The growing season of garlic is famous for the fact that at the end of it, the leaves often turn yellow. This is an absolutely natural process, which only rarely indicates a violation of the growth and maturation of the fetus.

Causes of yellowing leaves

They can be conditionally divided into three types:

improper conditions for plant growth, yellowed leaves indicate stressful conditions. This includes both unfavorable soil and initially bad seeds;
diseases (mold, rot);
pests that are not always visible to the eye. Possible damage occurs inside the soil.

How to avoid it

In order to prevent yellowing of the leaves, of course, prevention of all kinds of diseases in the culture is needed. And it can be ensured by the timely addition of the correct fertilizers to the soil. Nitrogen and potassium are the two main components that contribute to the healthy growth of garlic. You can get them from organic or mineral fertilizers.

Feeding methods

During the growing season, this plant is in great need of additional sources of vitamins and minerals. And if the soil where the garlic was planted is not in itself fertile, then here the issue of fertilization and improving the quality of the soil should be given special attention.

Mineral fertilizers

Garlic can be fertilized in two ways: granules or watering.

In the first case, it is necessary to make two-centimeter grooves along the rows where the culture grows, where the granules with fertilizers are poured. From above, they are covered with a layer of soil and watered.

In the second case, you need to dilute the fertilizer concentrate in a given proportion and water it (it is advisable to study the weather forecast in advance so that there is no rain on that day).

Organic fertilizers

As this type of fertilizer, a tincture of freshly cut grass and wood ash is perfect.

But what is highly discouraged to do is fertilize the soil with fresh manure.

If garlic has all the necessary conditions for healthy growth, then a high-quality harvest will not take long!
