Actinidia is a vine of the Actinidiaceae family. Translated from Greek, it sounds like a ray. Several varieties of actinidia grow in Russia: kolomikta, polygamous, spicy and giraldi. These species do well in the Far East; Chinese actinidia is grown in the lower Caucasus.

Actinidia arguta (acute)

Liana can be 36 meters long, and the diameter of the vine at the base is 15 centimeters. The dark green leaves resemble an oval, bordered with small teeth. It begins to bloom in July with fragrant white-green flowers. Fruits of a sugary sweet taste ripen closer to September. The fruit is shaped like a fig.

Arguta is subdivided into 2 varieties. Self-fertile variety is frost-resistant, 1 vine can yield 12 kilograms of harvest. The large-fruited variety easily tolerates drought and is resistant to frost, the fruits have a fragrant, honey pulp.

Actinidia Giraldi

                 

Giraldi looks like actinidia arguta. It bears fruit with very sweet emerald fruits. The Juliania variety has a weight of 10-15 grams, its cylindrical fruits emit an apple-pineapple aroma.

Alevtina variety has larger, barrel-shaped berries, weighing 12-20 grams with apple-pineapple-strawberry aroma.

Actinidia Chinese

Chinese is known to many as the fruit of a kiwi, the size of a goose egg. The berry is emerald green with a lot of small black seeds. One kiwi fruit contains the daily requirement of vitamin C. In the Russian Federation, it grows in the Far East, it is a climbing liana, reaching a length of 8 meters.
