Paths in the beds - someone thinks that it is enough to trample them, and someone bothers a lot about this, digging them up and covering them with various materials. When choosing the second option, it is important to know that not every material is suitable for this role.

What are long-term trails for?

Firstly, they give the site a finished and aesthetic look. Walking on them is very comfortable, and looking at such paths is a real pleasure for a gardener.

Secondly, it is a great way to control weeds.

Thirdly, organized paths help keep you clean after rain. The paths are not washed out and do not stain shoes.

How to correctly select material

In order for the paths to really serve for a long time, you cannot take any material, starting only from its appearance. It is necessary to take into account a number of important points.

Water resistance

The material for the tracks must be resistant to moisture and water. This applies to both weather conditions and, directly, the impact of frequent watering.

UV resistance

The chosen option for organizing the paths must also be resistant to sunlight.

It is also important to pay attention to the fact that the coating "breathes". Otherwise, mold may begin under the material, which will negatively affect the future harvest.

When making a choice, you should give preference to natural coatings. A variety of inorganic materials that are now being actively promoted and recommended, in fact, have adverse effects on plants and the soil in general.

What is clearly not worth using

Slate

The material is not very cheap, but at the same time it is absolutely not durable. As a rule, it will not last even one season.

Stones

On the one hand, this is not a bad option, but, alas, over time, from the pressure on the stones, they begin to go deeper into the ground. Thus, the tracks are no longer even.

Wood

The tree is only suitable for creating temporary paths. Since this material is absolutely not intended for such purposes, it is better to immediately choose a more durable option.
