Sometimes on his site the gardener discovers not a long-awaited harvest of vegetables and fruits, but mushrooms that have filled most of the free space. Why is this happening? This is what we should figure out today.

How mushrooms grow

If suddenly a gardener discovers such a phenomenon in his area, then first of all you need to remember that mushrooms do not grow individually, but in whole groups. In simple words, a mycelium forms along a certain perimeter in the garden, and mushrooms grow on its spirals.

Causes of occurrence

First of all, it is important to think not about how to deal with the named guests - mushrooms, but about why they appeared on the site.

It is worth recalling that they love moist soil and grow quickly if, for example, a person unknowingly buried pieces of wood or sawdust in the ground.

How to deal with them

It is not so easy to remove mushrooms from your garden, but there are a number of methods that will favorably affect this process.

Aeration of the soil

As noted above, mushrooms love moist soil. Therefore, to stop their growth, the latter must be thoroughly ventilated. The easiest way to do this is with a pitchfork, slightly lifting and turning the top layer.

Reducing watering

Also effective is a method where the gardener significantly reduces or completely eliminates watering.

Removing mycelium

If the wrong method does not work, you need to act more radically. It will be about the difficult process, namely the removal of the mycelium. It is a white thread that has a pungent mushroom smell.

To remove the mycelium, you need to remove about fifteen centimeters of the topsoil and spread it out in the sun. Then try to extract all these roots. After the earth is completely dry, it can be returned to its place, having previously examined it.
