Having started his own plot, the summer resident dooms himself to an endless struggle with all kinds of pests and weeds. Of course, a great harvest is always worth it. Some nasty ones, such as the mole, manage to do nasty things quietly and unnoticed. How to protect your plants from moles?

Why are moles in the country dangerous?

Moles can make a beautiful site look like an abandoned place in a matter of days. They dig and dig the earth, scattering it around the beds and greenhouses.

Also, these animals loosen the ground, lifting the roots of plants outward, due to which they receive less water and nutrients and may die.

Also, moles feed on worms, whose absence can significantly impoverish the soil and make it less fertile.

It is important to understand that it will not work to blame all the troubles on the mole, because they feed exclusively on flesh, and plants are not of interest to them. Thus, a mole on the site can also be useful, as it destroys pests, bears and various larvae.

But if there is still more harm than good from this animal, then there are several ways to protect against it.

Underground fence

Along the perimeter of the site, you can bury old roofing material or slate sheets to a depth of about half a meter. A fine mesh made of metal or plastic will also work.

If a mole wants to get to the site, then he simply cannot do this, having stumbled upon such an obstacle.

Smelly Repeller

The mole will not be very happy about the appearance of rotten fish or fish skins in its hole. It is important to push the treat deeper into his house, and then sprinkle it with earth and stone it. He clearly will not be happy with such a treat and will go home.

Other strong-smelling substances are also suitable: ammonia, tar. They need to soak a rag and do the same with it.

Alarm clock

Regular battery-operated alarm clocks, put in a jar and buried in different parts of the summer cottage, can become an excellent deterrent for those who like to dig in someone else's garden. You can use several pieces and start them at different times, so they will work throughout the day and reliably protect the site.

Ultrasound

If you don't feel like messing around with smelly rags, fish and alarm clocks, you can just buy an ultrasonic repeller. This is a very common remedy for various pests. To date, there are many types of such scarers at different prices and with different ranges, so that every summer resident can choose the one that suits him.
