Often summer residents and those who are just planning to acquire a suburban area ask themselves: what trees would they like to see next to the house? In addition to the traditional garden with fruit trees, many are trying to transplant sprouts from the forest. Among other things, the choice falls on coniferous trees, because a herringbone or pine tree can be a good solution in landscape design, and the ability of conifers to purify the air is known to absolutely everyone.

How to choose a pine sprout or a Christmas tree for transplanting?

Having entered the pine forest, there is no need to rush to dig up a fairly tall young pine. Such a seedling will be more difficult to transplant. Young trees up to 1 meter high are best suited.

When digging up a young tree, it is necessary to remember that many forests are under protection, and in order to protect yourself from unpleasant conversations with representatives of the forestry, it is advisable to choose young trees not in the forest itself, but on the outskirts. For example, near power lines or nearby roads, young shoots, one way or another, must be eliminated, and in a new place they will have the opportunity to grow and delight others.

Experienced gardeners believe that when transplanting a tree from a forest, it is important to maintain its orientation to the cardinal points. For this it is necessary to make certain notes. For example, by choosing a shoot, you can tie a ribbon to a branch facing north. When planting, this branch should also face north.

Transplant recommendations

It is better to start transplanting in early spring, when the ground has not yet warmed up. At such a time, the pines are easier to tolerate the change of place.

First, the tree is dug in a circle and trying to extract it along with a large clod of earth, without damaging the root system.

The roots that have just been dug should not be allowed to dry out. This rule applies to any type of tree, and conifers are no exception. The roots, together with the earth, are wrapped in a damp cloth or dipped in a bucket of water. And after that, the transplant cannot be delayed.

It will not be superfluous to take a certain amount of land with you from the forest where the tree was dug up. When transplanting, it is added to the soil so that at first the young tree has all the substances necessary for its growth.

The transplant is carried out in several stages:

  • A place is selected for future landing. If possible, the soil should be sandy. Small stones are poured into the bottom of the dug hole for drainage.
  • Fertilizers are placed in the hole, then the soil taken from the forest is spread. After that, you can already plant the tree itself. The roots must be buried, compacting the soil in such a way that no air pockets remain in the ground, otherwise the tree risks dying.
  • The first few days the new tree is watered abundantly. Later, twice a week will be enough.

Care advice

A newly transplanted tree should first be shaded a little, because it did not grow in the forest in the open sun. In winter, the young tree will not be superfluous to shelter from frost. In the process of growth, the young tree must be fed with appropriate fertilizers.

It is important to remember that conifers can stretch upward a lot. This moment must be foreseen even at the landing stage and choose a place not too close to the house, fence and electrical wires. But the crown of a growing tree can be formed by pruning it annually. Thus, the growth of the tree in height is slowed down.

Having followed such simple recommendations, you can plant several evergreen beauties on your site at once, which will look very original and will become the real pride of the owners.
