Before planting potatoes in the soil, it must be prepared. This is done about a month before planting. There are different methods of seed preparation.

Dry

It is done when there is still a lot of time before disembarkation. It consists in the fact that the seed is pulled out of the underground and placed in a container in several layers. The boxes can be stacked on top of each other. Placed in a very bright room, with a temperature of +20 degrees, for 10 days. Make sure the light shines directly on the potatoes to produce melanin. It is necessary to raise the plant's immunity against various diseases. Strong shoots hatch at the same time. After the shoots grow back a little, the temperature is lowered to +12 degrees in order to prevent their strong outgrowth. This is kept for another 20 days. Then they are planted in plowed land.

Wet method

It is used for friendly seedlings of sprouts. Planting material is placed in a container in one row, and sprinkled with wet sawdust on top. The boxes are transferred to a dark and insulated place for 20 days. Sawdust is moistened as it dries and make sure that they do not dry out. The seeds produce not only small, strong sprouts, but also strong root buds. You cannot overexpose them, because the roots can overgrow and be damaged during planting. Therefore, after a specified time, they are taken out and planted.

Mixed dry and wet method

The seeds are first germinated for 10 days in warm, lighted rooms using the dry method. Then they are carefully placed in one row and sprinkled with moistened sawdust. Placed in a dark and warm room for another 15 days. The sawdust is constantly wetted.

Thermal shock method

It is used when necessary, when there is no time left for the growth of shoots. Seed material is taken from a cold cellar. Lay in 1 row. Warm up well in the sun for 1 day. Then cover with a rag dipped in hot water. As the rag cools, it is moistened again and the seeds are covered. This procedure lasts for 3 days and is rarely used. Due to the low efficiency, this is done only when there is very little time left before planting.

Seedling method

It is used in a situation where there are few seeds or when breeding elite varieties. The soil is poured into a small container and half the potato is immersed in it. They are placed in a hot and bright place. Observe the moisture content of the earth. After the shoot appears, it is allowed to grow up to 5 cm, gently break off from the mother's fetus and transplanted into open ground. Do not touch the tuber and wait for the next shoots.

To obtain friendly, strong shoots, and as a result, a rich harvest, it is necessary to prepare and germinate the seed material. Otherwise, the sprouts will be weak and frail, and the potato tubers will grow small in size as a result.
