Many summer residents have already learned that you can have fresh greens on the table all year round, growing them on the windowsill and balcony. But not everyone knows that more interesting things can be grown at home, for example, strawberries. Of course, for such a plant you need a little more than a container and water, but it's worth it.

What you need to grow

Growing conditions must be optimal. For example, windows should face south or west. Other parties will need constant additional lighting.

Light must be on for a minimum of 12 hours. In autumn and winter, strawberries will need lighting in the morning and evening for 3 hours.

The optimum temperature is 20 degrees above zero.

The humidity should be high, about 70%, if less, then the strawberries will need spraying.

What varieties are suitable for home

The main thing is not to choose greenhouse varieties for growing in an apartment. It is very unlikely that at home it will be possible to recreate the greenhouse humidity and temperature levels. The varieties must be remontant.

The following varieties are well suited for the home: F1 Home Delicacy, Rose Dream, Temptation, Albion, Tristan, Geneva.

How to grow

Initially, the seeds are planted in small containers, then, as they grow, they are moved into larger pots, you can also plant the bushes in boxes, retreating 20 centimeters from each other. Be sure to make drainage holes in the pots.

The primer can be purchased at a general store. It should be marked "for growing seedlings". There are also specialized soils for strawberries and strawberries. The soil should be loose and soft. It is not recommended to take soil from the dacha, it can be contaminated.

For the home, it is recommended to use ready-made strawberry seedlings, but you can also plant seeds yourself. The seeds are pre-hardened for a month in the refrigerator, wrapped in a damp cloth.

How to care

It is necessary to water with strictly settled water 2 times a week. It will be good if it is possible to constantly spray the plant to maintain moisture.

Strawberries are fed once every 2 weeks after the appearance of 1 leaf.

Seedlings grown from seeds must be pruned. For this, the first leaves are plucked. Ready-made seedlings should not be touched.

Plants need to be pollinated. To do this, a fan is directed at the flowers, or they are carried through them in turn with an ordinary brush.

When a spider mite appears, the plants are sprayed with garlic tincture (2 cloves per 100 ml of water).
