For summer residents, the priority is to grow their seedlings of tomatoes, peppers, cabbage and eggplant. This is due not only to the high cost of seedlings, but also to the desire to grow strong vegetable crops that can resist disease.

Grower tips

The growth and good fruiting of vegetable crops depends on a number of conditions. These include:

  • variety selection
  • seed quality
  • preparation of soil mixture for seedlings
  • sowing time
  • disinfection of seeds before sowing
  • correct fit
  • timely watering
  • lighting level and temperature
  • picking and feeding
  • disease prevention and pest control

To grow seedlings of tomato, pepper, cabbage and eggplant, it is necessary to prepare the soil. It is better to prepare it in the fall, adding a little sand and rotted manure to the ground. Two weeks before planting seedlings, the prepared soil must be placed in a warm place. This is done approximately in February.

Seeds are purchased only in a retail network with information about the place of collection of seeds and other information about the variety. Supporters of pre-sowing treatment soak seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate or in drugs against diseases.

Growing bell pepper

Pepper seedlings are planted in the soil to a depth of 1 cm. The optimum temperature for friendly seedlings is +20 degrees. Water the seedlings as they dry. After 10 days, the first shoots appear.

The pepper is fed in two stages. At the first stage, it is necessary to dilute 10 grams of ammonium nitrate, 25 grams of superphosphate and 15 grams of potassium sulfate in 10 liters of water. This solution is applied to the soil after 2-3 pepper leaves appear. The second feeding is carried out after 2 weeks in the same chemical composition.

A week before planting in the ground, pepper seedlings are sprayed with a 5% solution of copper sulfate, which ensures its protection against fungal diseases.

Tomato seedling care

Tomato seeds are sown in rows in a container with soil. After that, sprinkle with earth and level. Pour a little water on top. Tomatoes love warmth very much, their shoots will appear at a temperature of + 20 + 25 degrees. The first shoots will appear in a week.

After the dive, the tomatoes are fed. To do this, use 12 grams of potassium sulfate, 35 grams of superphosphate and 4 grams of urea per 10 liters of water. After 15 days, feeding is repeated. After planting tomato seedlings in the soil, during the entire period of growth and vegetation, plants apply moderate watering and loosening of the soil.

The subtleties of obtaining a harvest of cabbage

Most diseases of cabbage are transmitted through seed, therefore, in the cultivation of white cabbage and cauliflower, seed disinfection plays an important role. You can do this procedure by applying a solution of potassium permanganate. Before planting, it is advisable to soak the seeds for better germination, and before sowing, the soil must be well moistened.

Seeds are sown to a depth of 1 cm. On average, cabbage is watered once a week. The optimum temperature regime for seedling growth is from +18 to +20 degrees. White cabbage easily tolerates nighttime temperature drops, and its cauliflower "relative" treats such fluctuations very badly.A pick of cabbage will allow you to build up a strong root system. Before planting in open ground, cabbage is treated with fungicide for diseases.

Planting a purple vegetable

Eggplant is grown under the same conditions as tomatoes and peppers. Organic and mineral fertilizers are applied to the soil. This culture loves light soils and grows at + 20 + 25 degrees. Before planting in the ground, eggplant seedlings must be hardened. For this, 4 days before disembarkation, it is left in the open air.

During the season, eggplants are fed 3-5 times. To do this, dissolve 1 teaspoon of ammonium nitrate and 1 tablespoon of superphosphate in 10 liters of water. During the fruiting period, the plants are sprinkled with ash, and the soil moisture is constantly maintained under the bushes. During the growing season, it is necessary to remember about loosening the soil, which must be started 3 days after planting.

Through the efforts of summer residents, you can grow strong and healthy seedlings of vegetables, which will subsequently reward with a good harvest.
